Adult education, distinct from child education, is a practice in which adults engage in systematic and sustained self-educating activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or values.

Aug 31, 2018 · With so many adults returning to the classroom, the term "adult education" has taken on new meanings. Adult education, in the broadest sense, is any form of learning adults engage in beyond traditional schooling that ends in their 20s. In the narrowest sense, adult education is about literacy—adults learning to read the most basic materials.

ADULT EDUCATION STUDENTS EARN DIPLOMAS, CITIZENSHIP AND MORE AT 2019 GRADUATION. On June 13, Sunrise Tech Center-- San Juan Unified School District’s school for adults-- celebrated the accomplishments of 37 high school graduates, 58 G.E.D. recipients, 33 clinical medical assistants and 10 newly naturalized United States citizens.

The Division of Adult Education and Literacy (DAEL) administers programs that help adults get the basic skills they need including reading, writing, math, English language proficiency, and problem-solving to be productive workers, family members, and citizens.. Our office provides funds to states for adult education and literacy programs.
