May 11, 2009 · My breast surgeon said they wouldn't start chemo until at least a month after surgery, possibly closer to two months but no more than three. Three was too much. They want to give your body time to heal from the surgery. I would imagine radiation is similar. My surgery was 4/3 and I'm meeting with the oncologist on 4/29.
