What Is Vaginal Rejuvenation? | University of Utah Health vaginal rejunevation

Nov 28, 2018 · Vaginal rejuvenation is an umbrella term for procedures done to tighten the vaginal canal and opening and to increase lubrication. They’re usually done to correct issues caused by pregnancy, aging, and even cancer treatment.

Vaginal rejuvenation falls into that category with promises of tightening the vagina, stopping incontinence, eliminating vaginal dryness, and more. “Childbirth and age can change a woman’s vagina,” said Jo Hill, MD, an urogynecologist with University of Utah Health. “And there are some women who want to try to reverse those changes.”.

The term "vaginal rejuvenation" covers several different procedures. It is sometimes called female genital plastic surgery, female genital rejuvenation surgery, female genital cosmetic surgery, vulvovaginal plastic surgery and designer vagina surgery.

What is nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation? As women go through childbearing, hormonal changes and aging, they can experience changes in their genitalia. Changes that can impact a woman's quality of life include vaginal laxity, stress urinary incontinence, loss of vaginal lubrication, a decrease in erotic sensation and loss of tone of the labia.
